“Mulesing” is the name for a cruel practice in which skin is removed from around a sheep’s tail — without any pain relief. The aim is to prevent infestation with fly larvae (myiasis). The myiasis blowfly is found mainly in parts of Australia and New Zealand, where this method is still used in conventional sheep farming.
There are already alternatives to mulesing, such as ongoing monitoring of sheep flocks, the use of betteradapted sheep breeds or biological fly control. We only use mulesingfree organic virgin wool in our products, sourcing it primarily from Argentina.
