The Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS for short) is not a new breed of goat, but a certification developed by the International Working Group on Organic Textile Standards (IWG). It is considered one of the strictest standards for organically produced natural fibres such as organic cotton, organic virgin wool and linen.
It defines requirements that ensure both environmentally sustainable and socially responsible textile production — from the cultivation of raw materials right through to final processing. This is checked once a year by an independent certification body — and since 2011, that has included all of our producers across the entire supply chain.
This also applies to materials that cannot themselves be certified under GOTS because they are not natural fibres (for example TENCEL® and Lenzing Modal Edelweiss®). Even then, the GOTS standards still have to be met.
