If you return an order, the refund is first made to the payment method you used (for example your PayPal account). Any amount above what you originally paid will automatically be credited back to the gift card used.
If you paid for the order entirely with a gift card, the full amount will be credited back to that gift card code so you can use it again — provided it is still valid, of course.
